![]() Demon Souls was the first game of the Souls Series, and was released on PS3 in 2009. At least the atmosphere is there, loving it none the less. There are 4 Souls games published by FromSoftware 5 if you count Bloodborne, which is very similar to the Souls games but has some distinct differences. To the people who could see the brilliance of the original combat mechanic, its a real loss. Totally agree, the poise loss is a real shame. And while I'm still having a blast I'm finding some of the mobs to be the most frustrating experience I've ever had in a souls game. Playing the way you want the whole time is next to impossible. That said, Poise for players is an absolute joke in this one. I've found even a lesser upgraded faster weapon is the way to go. I've also noticed others you simply can't use a slower weapon on without a little bit of luck. Most of those enemies have very low poise though and you can chain stagger them once you get that opening. Be it pulling with a bow on groups to the fast enemies only having 1 real attack that leaves them open. Greatswords and any other big but slow moving weapons can be okay but you'll find quite a few enemies you simply will not be able to hit with them because the enemy hits way too fast(Dogs in the snowy palace area for one). So that dinky little kite shield that's classed as a small shield but absorbs 100% physical damage is useless on bosses as you get staggered a bit anyway and it requires a lot more stamina to block the attack. More stability = less stamina used to absorb a hit but they're super heavy so you have to sacrifice rolls(You won't be able to light or medium roll with a Greatshield). Greatshields have more and it makes the world of difference. As for shields, you need to know that stability stat is very important. Upgraded it to +9 and it's doing the job now leading up to the last area very well. I'm using the Broadsword I got near the beginning. (Sorry for bad english, this is not a rant, is just that I want to like this game, i really do, but right now I cant enjoy it since it doesnt feel like DS to me) So how should I play this game? Because I cannot play it like Dark Souls (which is stupid since this is Dark Souls 3 lol) neither like Bloodborne because my character doesnt have those abilities. and that is even worse when Im fighting multiple enemies. I played Bloodborne, and the reason why this kind of combat worked for me there, is because my character was also fast and aggresive like the enemies, i could dash all over the place and that was a blast.īut in this game, my character is the normal slow paced Dark Souls guy (With much more vitality but still), going against Bloodborne foes, which doesnt work since my character is not super fast nor can slash like in bloodborne, so I feel handicapped, Im weak, my enemies are strong, I have limited stamina but my foes can spam their attacks without a break, they can break stun-locks but every single attack staggers me regardless of the armor I wear. ![]() (which is fine to me, I dont like using shields anyway, I always roll) ![]() its like every enemy has infinite stamina were they can just spam attacks all day long, so because of that reason I cant use the shield since my stamina is gone between seconds. im trying to play this like I would with any Dark Souls game (I have hundreds of hours in DS & DS2) and its not working, the enemies are super fast and aggresive, they attack way too fast making too many slashes, their attacks have a very long reach.
